The Mulago-Makerere Endowed Chair in Public Health brought Dr. Grace Asiimwe back from Johns Hopkins University.
When Makerere University announced the establishment of the Mulago-Makerere Endowed Chair in Public Health, it signalled a new chapter in the university's ability to attract and retain world-class faculty.
Dr. Grace Asiimwe, who earned her medical degree at Makerere before completing her PhD at Johns Hopkins University, has returned to Kampala to become the inaugural holder of the Chair.
Dr. Asiimwe has already secured additional grant funding of over $2 million from the Wellcome Trust and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
