Moses Otim, a first-generation university student from Gulu, now mentors hundreds of students through the alumni mentorship programme.
Moses Otim grew up in Gulu during the height of the insurgency. A scholarship brought him to Makerere, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. Today, he runs one of Uganda's most respected construction firms and mentors over 200 students annually through the Makerere Alumni Mentorship Programme.
His story is a testament to the power of access, the value of mentorship, and the multiplying impact of a single scholarship.
“I was the first in my family to attend university. Now I make sure I am not the last in my community.”
